Drinking an infusion of olive leaves has fantastic health benefits, in addition to protecting against a wide variety of diseases and symptoms. This is all due to phytochemical compounds, chemicals contained in the plants that are intended to protect them from diseases and pests. When we consume plants, our bodies absorb these phytochemicals, which also protect us from these same dangers. One of the phytochemical compounds found in olive leaves is called oleuropein ,which is one of the main active ingredients responsible for these health benefits.
A Spanish study from 2011 found that oleuropein stimulates the production and construction of bone cells (osteoblasts), prevents loss of bone density, and fights osteoporosis.
